The Incredible Anushka Shetty: A Look at Her filmography

A stunning actress who has won many accolades over the years, Anushka Shetty is one of the top actresses in the South Indian film industry, in spite of being relatively new to the field. While she first became known for her role as the protagonist in ‘Shankar Dada M.B.B.S’, she soon established herself as an actress to watch out for with films like ‘Amma Nanna O Tamil Ammayi’, ‘Madrasapattinam’, ‘Mynaa’ and many others, but what films has Anushka Shetty starred in? The Fault in Our Stars is an American romantic tragedy drama film directed by Josh Boone, based on John Green’s 2012 novel of same name. It stars Shailene Woodley, Willem Dafoe, and Nat Wolff and premiered June 5, 2014 at the Paramount Theater in Austin, Texas.


In September 2006, a Telugu-language remake of Mani Ratnam’s successful Tamil language romantic drama Aaytha Ezhuthu (2004) was launched by Red Chilies Entertainment with N. T. Rama Rao Jr in his first lead role and Meena as co-star. Titled Baby, it featured Shetty alongside an ensemble cast that included Rao, Brahmanandam, Srikanth and Vidyullekha Raman among others.

The Hindi remake of Sundarapandian was a box office disaster. However, her next venture had tremendous success. The Telugu romantic comedy 5 Sundarikal became a blockbuster at both India and overseas. The story of a man who must defeat his girlfriend’s five suitors to win her hand in marriage enjoyed popular demand for months after its release.

Aranya Kandam

Before entering Bollywood, Anushka had worked in several Tamil and Telugu language films. Her first movie was Aranya Kandam, where she played a supporting role as Kishore’s sister. The movie also featured another Bollywood actor who would eventually get really big—Karan Singh Grover, who played Kishore’s brother in Aranya Kandam.

Surya vs Surya

In an earlier interview, actor Surya had said that he wants to do a movie with actress Anushka Sharma and hopes to get some dates locked in soon. This wish seems unlikely to come true now, as Surya is all set to collaborate with Anushka’s husband – actor Ajith Kumar for a new project. Looks like fans of both actors will have something new to look forward to!

Oru Indian Pranayakatha

A 2004 Malayalam coming of age comedy drama film written and directed by Adoor Gopalakrishnan. The film stars Manju Warrier and Jayaram in lead roles, along with an ensemble cast of Mammootty, Sreenivasan, Indrajith Sukumaran and others. The screenplay is by Adoor Gopalakrishnan based on his original story Oru Sankeerthanam Pole.


This 2004 Telugu film sees Anushka play one of three sisters—the others being Simran and Sneha—who live in a small village. Their father is played by Jagapathi Babu. The eldest sister, Ganga (Simran), falls in love with Vasu (Vineet Kumar), who comes to their village to take care of his late grandmother’s house and property.

Baahubali 2 : The Conclusion

The second part of S.S. Rajamouli’s blockbuster Baahubali, released in 2017, was a mammoth project by any measure, with an initial budget of ₹250 crore (US$38 million). Starring Prabhas and Rana Daggubati, along with veteran Bollywood actress Tamannaah Bhatia and South Indian stars Anushka Shetty and Sathyaraj.
